According to the political, social and cultural conditions of the Safavid period,
Persian writers of this era, have taken a large share of the reflection of Iranian
identity in the history of this land.
The unity of Iran in the context of the legitimacy and universality of the twelver
Imamiyyah and the reign of the Sayyid Safavid dynasty, has had a great impact on
the expression of the identity of Iranians.
In the meantime, Zulali Khansari, one of the prominent poets of the late 10th and early 11th
centuries AH, during the reign of Shah Abbas Safavid 996-1038 AH, has extensively
discussed the aspects of the political and wisdom life of the 11th century in his poems.
The present research aims to answer this question that what is Zulali Khansari’s
position in the connection of Shiism with aspects of the political and wisdom life of
the 11th century of Hijri, from a historical perspective and by analytical descriptive
method, relying on the historical and literary sources of the Safavid era, especially
the book “Kulliyat” of Zulali Khansari.
The results of the present study and research show that Zulali Khansari is a master
writer and poet who has been noticed by the poets and literary critics of the Safavid
era in his poetic style and the optimal use of literary styles and techniques.
while showing that he was deeply influenced by the identity of Shiite unified Iran
of the Safavid era, he clearly used various elements involved in the territorial,
ethnic, intellectual and religious identity of Iranians and used them in different parts
of his book “Kulliyat”, and from this aspect, he has been very successful with its
admirable ability in using literary and poetic tools to show various aspects of the
aforementioned identity.
