In this research, the link between mystical teachings and Manaqbati poems of the
8th and 9th centuries are shown.
To achieve this goal, the verses of those poets have been taken into consideration
who wrote poems about Ahl al-Bayt in this period, but in order to have a greater
impact of their words on the audience, they have tried to use the teachings of Islamic
mysticism as well.
This fusion of mysticism and Manqabat can have various reasons:
the intellectual tendency of the poet, his benefit from a special line of thought, and the
Distinctive feature of the content of this period, which is the benefit of mystical themes.
The interweaving of mystical principles with the praise of Ahl al-Bayt has made it
difficult to understand the poems of some of these poets, such as Shah Ne’matullah
Wali and Azari Esfraini, and shows the way of telling Manqabat of those poets more
prominently than others.
The poets mentioned in this essay are Sheikh Hassan Kashi, Shah Ne’matullah Vali,
Azari Esfraini, Esmat Bokharai and Jami.
In the first step, we will give a brief introduction of the mentioned poets, and then
we will discuss the verses.
In the verse review section, firstly, the description of their mystical terms and, if necessary,
Quranic and narrative references related to Ahl al-Bayt are discussed, and then the verses
are explained based on mystical subtleties and hadiths or sayings of Ahl al-Bayt.
