The significance of Shahnameh from the viewpoint of religion and faith is visible in its preface where a poem called “Sermon on the Praise of the Prophet” contains Ferdowsi’s beliefs and opinions on the Ahlul Bayt (AS). In praise of Prophet Mohamed (PBUH) and Imam Ali (AS), he points to the concept of “ship” and proves the necessity of following the Ahlul Bayt (AS) through proposing the concept of the “ship of Shia”. In this poem, Ferdowsi notes that Imam Ali (AS) is the executor of the Prophet’s will and his successor. This has resulted in Shia and Sunny duplicators of the Shahnameh remove or add content to change the way Ferdowsi’s poem affect the readers. On the other hand, some artists like this description and have taken to visualize it under the title of the “miniature painting of the ship of Shia”, such as the miniature of the “praise of Prophet Mohamed (PBUH)” in the brief Shahnameh of Injuids. Given that these miniatures are among the first to portray the concept of the ship of Shia, this study investigates the methods of visualizing and its connection to the Injuids school of miniature. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the similarity of this miniature to the description of the poem in the preface to the Shahnameh with regards to the concept of the Imam Ali’s (AS) succession to the Prophet, hence, the textual and visual characteristics of the miniature is investigated in order to find disparities with the original poem in the preface to the Shahnameh. The methodology of the study is based on the descriptive-analytical nature of the concept is comparative-interpretive and the data is gathered through direct library sources. The findings conclude that the text of the miniature includes a number differences from the preface. The visuals of miniature vary to some extent from the text of the miniature as well.
