Violent ethnopolitical attacks with a sectarian approach against Shia Muslims in Afghanistan took an organized form from the time of Abdur Rahman Khan (1259-1280 A.H.), and until the present day, in various ways by government officials or sectarian and affiliated political groups, mostly lead by foreign governments. Every once in a while, there is news of the repetition of these events. This paper’s question is, how and in what form are these events reflected in contemporary Persian literature? Therefore, the intention of this research is to answer the above question and present the image of this category of special historical events of Afghanistan in Persian literature (poems) with a descriptive-analytical method. The findings of this research, with inducing contemporary literary sources and analyzing the content of related poems, show that the poets of the five countries of Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, and Tajikistan, in the occurrence of sectarian events, especially atrocities against the followers of the Ahl ul-Bayt in Afghanistan, have depicted various perspectives. The mutual fact of describing these painful events with the specific intellectual underpinnings of each poet is more the description of pain than the way of treatment; for this reason, few poets have tried to describe the causes and ways out while describing the tragic events and mentioning these atrocities as well.
