The religious belief of Hafez, as a Sunni Shafi’i, is accepted among his scholars. On the other hand, the existence of Shia poetries in his Divan, which contextually implies a specific sense of a Sunni Shafi’i to Ahl Beyt, above a simple intimacy, means we are in need of carrying out research on the poems. It is essential, in particular, when we figure out that a sense of mutual understanding and integrity among Sunni and Shia had been made several centuries before Hafez’s era that could be named “the Sunni of Twelver Imami”. In addition, the cultural Shia atmosphere in the era of Hafez in Shiraz, plus the appearance of some Shia’s poets, as well as the
Shah Cheragh monument, and the specific attitude of some elites in Shiraz towards Shia, from the family of king Abu Ishaq Inju to Haji Ghavam, call for re-studying the Shia’s poems of Hafez for acquiring a new interpretation of his Tasanon.
